Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Mariela Franganillo is an internationally recognized Argentine tango dancer, choreographer, teacher, and producer based in New York City.

With over 30 years of experience, Mariela approaches tango as a language—a living conversation rooted in connection, musicality, and presence. Her teaching emphasizes deep listening to the partner and the music, building strong technical foundations that allow dancers to move with clarity, confidence, and expressive freedom.

Her career highlights include a featured role in Forever Tango on Broadway; performances and teaching at Midsummer Night Swing at Lincoln Center; collaborations with Pablo Ziegler at Carnegie Hall; a U.S. tour with Julio Iglesias; and original works including Recuerdo Tango, Tango Connection, Tango Noir, and SWANGO: The Musical!,written in collaboration with Tony Award winning playwright Rupert Holmes. She was also invited to choreograph and perform at the Fall for Dance Festival at New York City Center.

From Buenos Aires to Broadway

Mariela's performance career includes appearances in Forever Tango on Broadway, international tours with Julio Iglesias, and collaborations with Grammy Award–winning pianist Pablo Ziegler.
